MEET MONTY BELL

Born and raised in Darlington County, Glenn “Monty” Bell always knew he wanted to become a small-town lawyer and serve his community.

A Class of 1999 graduate from Mayo Magnet School for Math Science and Tech (MST) in Hartsville, SC, Monty went on to Morehouse College, where he graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor's Degree in Economics. In 2007, he received his Juris Doctor from the University of South Carolina School of Law.

In Monty’s 16-year legal career, he has served in every possible attorney-designated role in the courtroom. Since coming home to fulfill his dream of being a small-town lawyer, Monty has worked in all three aspects of the legal system — defending victim’s rights and protecting the public as a criminal prosecutor, preserving citizen’s legal rights as a private practice attorney and presiding over court as a magistrate judge.

Since 2016, Monty has served as the senior solicitor of the Fourth Circuit Solicitor’s Office, covering Darlington, Dillon, Chesterfield and Marlboro counties.

Outside of his duties as Fourth Circuit senior solicitor, Monty is active in the community, holding board positions at the Pee Dee Math, Science and Technology (MST) Academy, Carolina Pines Hospital and the Butler Heritage Foundation. He is also on the Hartsville Community Center Building Commission.

He is a lifetime member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity.
